Chris is co-author and joint presenter of "The Beermat Entrepreneur" programme based on the best-selling book. Working with Mike Southon, Chris gives 'Beermat' seminars and has also done a great deal of advisory work for entrepreneurs and start-ups, based on the 'Beermat' methodology. More recently, he has worked with larger companies to help them with innovation and intrapreneurship.

He regularly joins Mike in giving a two-man talk based on the book, which has been performed to audiences of entrepreneurs, small business founders, corporate managers and business students in the UK, France and America.

Chris has also done a great deal of advisory work for entrepreneurs and start-ups, based on the 'Beermat' methodology. More recently, he has worked with larger companies to help them with innovation and intrapreneurship.

Chris has also studied Transactional Analysis, and has a particular interest in its application in the workplace.

 

Biography of Chris West

Chris West was born in 1954. After school and the usual teenage casual jobs, he worked in the City, then went to the LSE as a mature student to study economics and philosophy, gaining a first class degree.

After university, he travelled around China, an experience which gave rise to "Journey To The Middle Kingdom", his first book, published by Simon and Schuster in 1991. A quartet of crime novels followed, set in contemporary China and published in the UK, America, Germany and Japan. He spent a stint as travel reviewer for the Independent on Sunday, and has written for many other journals.

While developing his writing career, Chris worked in PR and marketing, for Norwich-based mk Group. The work was mainly with SMEs, though the group also had larger corporate clients. Chris also co-founded a consultancy for venture capitalists, Vantage Strategic Consulting.
